About WAD
Held on December 1st each year, World AIDS Day is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV.
Running since 1988, World AIDS Day is now the longest-running disease awareness and prevention initiative of its kind.
The 2009 theme ‘universal access and human rights’ focuses on information, prevention and testing for people at risk of infection.
